US Islamic Cultural Center – Events, Donations & Shop

The US Islamic Cultural Center is a registered New York nonprofit. I built its website as a custom child theme of Hello Elementor, with its own Elementor widgets, so the team can change text, images and sections visually without touching code. It covers events and registration, programs, a blog, donations through Stripe, and a small book shop where every title is offered for a suggested donation.

What I built

• A custom Elementor theme. A child theme of Hello Elementor with 12 custom widgets (hero, events, donate, about, team, timeline, contact, blog, text block, marquee, and an editable header and footer). The team edits content in Elementor; the free version is enough.
• Events with registration. An events section with categories (education, community, youth), event details (date, time, location, price, optional link), upcoming and past views, and built-in registration: a signed-in member can register for an event and cancel again.
• Donations through Stripe. A donate section with preset amounts ($25, $50, $100, $200 or a custom amount), a tax-deductible note and secure Stripe checkout.
• A shop that works as giving. A WooCommerce book shop where every title is offered for a suggested donation: the buttons and checkout say “Donate” instead of “Buy”, with category filters and a book page designed around giving.
• Member accounts and receipts. One login for the shop and events, and an official receipt for every order, numbered by year (USICC-2026-001, and so on), that can be printed or saved as a PDF from the member’s orders page or the admin order screen.

Built for the team that runs it

The site is meant to be run by the team without a developer: events, books, team members and blog posts are added from the WordPress dashboard, and the header, footer and every home-page section are edited visually in Elementor. The home page weighs under 1 MB.
