AI Scalp Analysis Quiz – Shopify Store

Built a custom AI-powered product quiz for Scalp Delivery, a haircare brand on Shopify. Customers answer six questions and can upload a photo of their scalp. The photo is analysed by AI and combined with their answers to recommend the right routine, with live prices and Subscribe & Save options ready to add to cart.

The challenge

The client needed a quiz that felt like part of their brand, not a third-party popup. It had to follow their own recommendation rules, show real subscription pricing, and let them change products and copy without a developer.

What I built

• A six-step quiz built as a custom Liquid section inside the client’s theme, not an app
• Guided scalp photo upload, analysed by OpenAI Vision (the photo is never stored)
• A Cloudflare Worker that maps every answer combination to the right products, based on the client’s outcome sheet
• Results page with an AI photo summary and recommendation cards
• Live Shopify prices with native Subscribe & Save plans (monthly, 3-month, 6-month)
• Add one product or the whole routine straight into the theme’s cart drawer
• Branded results email to the customer and a full submission record to the store owner, sent with Resend
• Fully responsive, with separate mobile images where needed

Easy for the client to manage

Products, card titles, descriptions, images and even the custom font are all theme settings in the Shopify Customizer, so day-to-day changes never need a developer.
